We've met quite a few people in Maine who have many or most of the skills necessary to build their own home, or barn, or addition, or custom woodwork, but could really use some help filling in the gaps. For instance, I have two friends who wanted to build barns, and had some woodworking skills, but needed designs, help in learning a few specific skills, and some general supervision in implementing their barns. We filled the gaps for them, and they both ended up with gorgeous barns that they did most of the building of. The biggest part that we provided was design, working drawings, and we layed out and cut the timber frames. The drawings on our "architectural design" page were a similar situation. We provided the design and drawings, and did some teaching on joinery and timber framing, and we'll provide some of the custom woodwork, such as the entry door. We'll also provide instruction in building the masonry heater.
